WHL Players at the WJHC Division 1

Just under a month late, but here's a list of all the players named to World Junior Division 1 teams from WHL teams and their stats from the tournaments.

Division 1 Group A:
Portland Winterhawks - D Layne Viveiros (Austria) - 5 GP, 0 G, 2 A, 2 PTS, even, 0 PIM
-He played F for Austria at the tournament and finished tied for 3rd on the team in points as Austria finished 4th out of the 6 teams, going 2-0-0-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L)

Portland Winterhawks - F Oliver Bjorkstrand (Denmark) - 5 GP, 4 G, 2 A, 6 PTS, +2, 2 PIM
-Bjorkstrand finished tied for 1st on the team in goals, and was tied for 2nd in points as well as tied for 3rd in the tournament for goals and tied for 6th in points all while being named the tournament's top forward.

Edmonton Oil Kings - F Mads Eller (Denmark) - 5 GP, 1 G, 4 A, 5 PTS, +2, 44 PIM
-Eller tied for 2nd on the team in assists and 6th in the tournament in assists and led the tournament in penalty minutes with 12 minors and 2 10-minute misconducts as Denmark finished a perfect 5-0-0-0 to move up to the big tournament next year in Toronto and Montreal.

Edmonton Oil Kings - F Edgars Kulda (Latvia) - 5 GP, 1 G, 6 A, 7 PTS, even, 2 PIM
-Kulda led Latvia in assists as well as finished tied for the tournament lead in assists and tied for 5th in the tournament in points as Latvia finished 2nd in the tournament with a 4-0-0-1 record.

Seattle Thunderbirds - F Roberts Lipsbergs (Latvia) - 5 GP, 6 G, 1 A, 7 PTS, even, 2 PIM
-Lipsbergs didn't just lead Latvia in goals, he led the entire tournament outright with his 6 in 5 games as well as finishing tied for with Kulda for 5th in points in the tournament. Latvia finished tied for the most goals in the tournament with 23 and had the fewest allowed with 7.

Division 1 Group B:
Spokane Chiefs - F Liam Stewart (Great Britain) - 5 GP, 2 G, 2 A, 4 PTS, -3, 4 PIM
-Stewart tied for the team lead in goals as well as 4th in points as Great Britain finished 5th going 1-1-1-2.


Also named to team's rosters but did not end up on the final roster for whatever reason were:
